grave marker?

have someone who served in the Mexican War from Indiana. the cemetery books cite his name, dates, then GAR. Also a picture shows what might be a marker, like the civil war vets have.
MY QUESTION... Did Mexican War vets join GAR? Did Mexican War vets have a marker that could be stuck next to the stone like the civil war guys?
