Brothers: Fundraising for any disaster relief project swells to wonderful levels as long as the story remains on the front page of our newspapers and television screens. The assistance naturally drops off when page one has a new headline. Hurricane Katrina recovery, for our brethren, for their families, for their lodges, and the Gulf States as a whole will take not weeks, not months -- it will take years. The graphic at the top of the page is my contribution to the relief effort. This is a NO profit initiative to help you and your lodge keep fundraising efforts moving smoothly. Sometimes a small trinket is a reminder of our individual good fortune as well as being a reminder of the plight of others. The coin is # 528C in my inventory. It is already in production. It is solid pewter, one and a quarter inch in size with a bit of colour on one side. The message is short and to the point ... Masonic Relief -- Hurricane Katrina. No frills, just a small piece of metal to help keep an important job going -- that of raising money. The price: $3.00 plus shipping. You can sell the coin at $5 or whatever in order to raise huriicane relief assistance. Each Grand Lodge has its own route for channeling such charity donations, so I make no presumptions, nor do I offer any suggestions as those at the local level have the knowledge, not me at such a great distance.
